What is an Edible Jello Slime?
Edible jello slime is a fun twist to original slime recipe that requires glue and slime activator + mix-ins. This is our first edible slime recipe that is taste-safe and is sure to be a hit with your students or children!
The edible jello slime doesn’t have the ”exact” slime consistency, since it’s made with jello powder and cornstarch. But it makes it even more interesting and fun, because the consistency can turn from more solid to dripping. You’ll see how that turns out in the process images below!

Ingredients Needed for an Edible Slime Recipe :
- 3 oz Jello Powder (any brand you have or like)
- 1 Cup Cornstarch
- 3/4 Cup Warm Water (or as much as needed)
Recreate this easy DIY edible jello slime recipe :
For the edible slime base you’re going to need any type of jello powder. We have this deep blue edible jello slime recipe that requires this berry blue slime, but you, your kids or students can choose any color you like + any flavor you like!
NOTE : Although we have tried different Jello powders, colors like purple, blue and green will less likely to stain hands. Luckily, jello brands have all kinds of colors. I would still recommend trying out ”warm” colors as well, to play with the colors for this epic slime recipe.
Every slime recipe has the slime activator, edible slime requires cornstarch as it’s activator! You’re going to need starting from 1/2 cup to 1 cup of cornstarch for this recipe.
How To Make Jello Slime
1. Mix cornstarch and Jello powder together.
2. Add 1/4 cup of water and stir well.
3. Continue adding water little by little until the slime forms together (and is not sticky anymore).
4. Play!
Instructions :
Step 1 : Combine Jello powder and cornstarch together in a bowl. Mix it together evenly.
The mixture has to be fully mixed so when we add water, it can easily form together!
Step 2 : Now mix in 1/4 cup or so warm water. Stir until the paste begins to form.
Make sure the water is warm, as it is one of the components so the edible slime experiment is successful. Keep adding in more water little by little until the slime is removable from the bottom and sides of the bowl.
Step 3 : Keep adding in water and knead the slime with your hands when it’s ready.
At this point, the slime should be firm enough to knead it together in your hands. You can’t really go wrong by adding in more cornstarch or water, it will still turn out slimy, gooey and just perfect for the playtime!
Here’s a representation of how firm it should look like at the end of making it. You should be able to easily knead it together in a form. As I mentioned, it won’t be exactly like the ”original” slime recipe, it will have a different type of consistency. But it is still extremely fun to play with. You’ll be able to make it forms with it and still play with it exactly like with slime.
