An Awesome Disney-Themed Frozen Slime Recipe
How To Make Your Own Frozen Slime
This Frozen Slime recipe is made out of contact solution, but don’t worry – it is as stretchy, glittery and easy to clean up as made with any other slime activator.
It is borax free, super easy to make and every Elsa fun will approve it! Who am I kidding? Even myself!
I have found the most perfect winter themed stretchy slime recipe that is super fun to play with and even makes the most unforgettable Christmas gift ever!
Frozen Slime Supplies :
Please supervise your kids when making slime and have them wash their hands when they are done playing. This is not edible slime recipe.
- 5 oz clear glue (147ml)
- 1tsp baking soda
- 2 tbsp saline solution
- blue colorant – you can also mix blue + green if you don’t have a turqouise food colorant
- 1/2 cup of water (118ml)
- blue glitter
Other Materials :
- glass bowl
- wooden spoon or spatula for mixing
Recreate this contact solution slime recipe :
I bought 1 quart Elmer’s washable clear glue to make tons of different slime recipes as well, but if you buy this 5 oz one, it is the exact amount of clear glue you’ll need for this Frozen Slime recipe. Just use all the amount of this 147 ml bottle.
You’ll only need 1 teaspoon of baking soda for this Frozen Slime recipe, so this batch of baking soda will last you quite some time. It is the exact one I used for my winter themed slime recipe.
When looking up a slime recipe, one of the first things you can notice is that almost all of them call for liquid starch. As a German, I don’t have an access to liquid starch, but there’s a solution for every slime lover all over the world – it is contact solution.
This Frozen Slime is made without a borax powder which is one of the most popular slime activators. If you want to get that stretchy, gooey slime consistency, contact solution is one of the best options.
Benefits of contact solution slime :
- Not as harsh on skin as borax powder
- You can easily find it at any local grocery store (there must be a borax in the ingredients list, so the contact solution works when mixed with glue)
- It is a great slime activator
Now you see why it is totally okay to use contact solution as your slime activator – it has the same effect and is even more safe for kids to play with contact solution slime!
To make this slime recipe exactly like Frozen theme, you’ll need blue or turquoise shade food colorant. Don’t worry if you don’t have a turquoise one – use a mix of blue and green to make exactly the same color.
To make this Frozen Slime recipe even more shinier, there are few other mix-ins you can use :
- snowflake charms
- blue colored sequins
- fake snow
- glitter stars
Now, when all supplies are gathered together, let’s make our own Frozen Slime!
How to Make Frozen Slime With Contact Solution
1. Mix clear glue and water together in a medium size bowl until the glue incorporates into the water.
2. Add 4 drops of blue colorant. Mix in and add until you get the desired color. You can also mix blue + green colors to get the turquoise color scheme.
3. Add glitter and stir well.
4. Add any remaining mix-ins (snowflakes, sequins, glitter, faux snow..) and stir in well.
5. Stir in baking soda.
6. Add in contact solution and stir well to combine together. Stir until slime begins to form together, add more contact solution if needed.
7. Knead the slime until it gets less sticky and is easily removable from the container.
Stretchy Slime
This Frozen Slime recipe is so stretchy that me and my husband (cuz yes, we are adults and we love slime!) were able to stretch a single batch over 30 feet through my apartment before it finally broke! When you stretch it out, you can see the shimmers, glitters, and every little detail that is just so beautiful to look at!
Let’s go through step-by-step to understand better the science behind a Frozen Slime!
Instructions :
Step 1 : In a small bowl or a glass container, pour out 5 oz of clear glue. Add 1/2 cup of water stir until the glue and water are fully mixed together.
Make sure the glue has fully incorporated into the water.
Step 2 : Add 3-4 drops of blue colorant.
As we’re making Frozen Slime themed recipe, we need to add blue or turquoise shade food colorant. You can also use paint, soap colorants or pigments.
NOTE : I didn’t have a turquoise specifically, so I added 4 drops of blue food coloring and 2 drops of green colorant, it made this epic Frozen themed color, just like Elsa’s dress!
Step 3 : Add glitter and stir well!
Step 4 : Add any remaining mix-ins, such as snowflakes, sequins, fine glitter powder, faux snow, etc. Stir in well!
Step 5 : Stir in 1/2 tsp baking soda.
The science behind adding baking soda into your slime recipe :
Baking soda helps to determine your slime’s thickness, it helps to firm and form the slime. I used 1/2 tsp for this exact Frozen Slime recipe, but you can always play around with it and create your own ratios.
Step 6 : Mix in 1 tbsp contact solution and stir until slime forms and pulls away from sides of the bowl.
As I mentioned before, contact solution is one of the best options to use into your slime recipes that works as fine as borax powder. For this recipe, I needed 1tbsp of this exact contact solution, but it may slightly varie from brand to brand. Keep adding more until the slime forms itself and pulls away from the bowl.
NOTE : Don’t add too much or you will start to lose the stretchy properties and become more prone to breaking. If you find your slime is breaking you are adding too much contact solution.
Step 7 : Knead the slime until it gets less sticky and is easily removable from the container.
The slime mixture will be STICKY at this point, but don’t panic! Mix the solution in the bowl until it starts to take shape. Work it around in your hands until you’ll see how the slime consistency changes.
Conclusion :
It came out amazingly beautiful and super fun to play with! The color, little mix-ins, glitter – it all makes up to the most perfect, stretchy, gooey Frozen Slime recipe. This slime recipe is just perfect for the Winter time, it can also be a great winter sensory play activity for kids.
How To Make Slime Stretchy Again If It Gets Hard or Breaks :
If your slime gets super hard and breaks more easily, there’s a chance you’ve added a bit too much of a contact solution.
There’s one thing you can do –
Run the slime under warm/hot water. You can either do this just under the tap or using a bowl of water. Simply wet, knead and work in the water, it has worked for me with just putting the slime under warm water only once and it simply got back it’s previous stretchiness. If it doesn’t work, repeat this 2-3 times.
Slime as a Christmas Gift Idea :
This slime recipe is just so beautiful and perfect for the winter theme that you can make it as a gift as well, just store it into a glass or plastic container and you have the most amazing, sensory gift ever! Every Frozen fan will adore this beautiful Frozen Slime as the most unforgettable Christmas gift, I promise!
