DIY Fluffy Birthday Cake Slime Recipe
Homemade Birthday Cake Slime Recipe
Have you tried making fluffy slime yet? This recipe is a must try! Birthday cake slime is an awesome sensory activity and looks just like a delicious birthday cake! This slime recipe is not edible, but still makes an awesome DIY craft idea that kids will obsess over.
Fluffy slime recipe is something different – by using shaving cream, the slime consistency gets squishy and super fluffy. Kids will 100% play with it for hours. Even myself as an adult – I truly enjoyed playing with this slime since the fluffiness is epic.
We love how colorful and pretty it looks too. Just like the most amazing, perfect birthday cake!
What is Fluffy Slime?
The one thing that changes classic slime recipe from fluffy slime is shaving cream. By adding shaving cream, the consistency changes. The more shaving cream you add, the ”fluffier” the slime will be. It’s super fun to actually watch how the classic slime changes when shaving cream is added. Fluffiness overload!
How Long Does Fluffy Slime Last?
The saddest part about this beautiful fluffy slime is that it only lasts a day. It’s because of that the shaving cream settles and it forms back to a regular slime consistency. But, it really, really makes the perfect birthday party theme slime recipe since everyone will play with it all birthday party long.
Although, this birthday cake slime will only last for a day, you have to make it. You won’t be able to get this much fluffiness and squishiness anywhere else!
You can still play with it after it has lost the fluffiness, and store it in a glass or a plastic container. It should then last about a week.
Ingredients Needed to Make Birthday Cake Slime :
Please supervise your kids when making slime and have them wash their hands when they are done playing. This is not an edible slime recipe.
- 5 oz clear or white Elmer’s glue (147ml)
- 1tsp baking soda
- 2 tbsp saline solution
- 50 ml shaving cream (unscented)
- 1/2 cup of water (118ml)
- colorful foam beads
Other Materials :
- glass bowl
- wooden spoon or spatula for mixing
Recreate this contact solution slime recipe :
These are the supplies for your fluffy birthday cake slime recipe. The base of the slime uses clear or white glue, contact solution and shaving cream (unscented).
You’ll need to use all of this clear or white Elmer’s glue bottle which is 147ml, or you can measure the glue into a measure cup if you have 1 quart Elmer’s washable clear glue in your supplies storage.
Do I only use white glue for this birthday cake recipe?
You can definitely use clear glue as well, like I did! It doesn’t change the consistency at all. The only thing is that after the shaving foam has settled, it will become like a regular slime and it won’t be as white as it would be with white glue. And yet still it will come out just like if you’d add white glue – foamy, fluffy and squishy!
This is the baking soda brand that has been used in many slime recipe blogs and videos. I used the same brand and recipes came out just the way they should be, that’s why I would recommend using this one, at least if you don’t want to try experimenting and want to create the slime recipe immediately!
Next thing is your slime activator – you can use any brand of contact solution, but the most important thing to keep in mind is to look up if the exact contact solution has one of these – sodium borate, boric acid or borax powder. These ingredients mixed with PVA glue makes this gooey, stretchy slime consistency that we can all play with!
Renu Contact Lens Solution is also a super popular slime recipe ingredient, but I couldn’t find it on Germany’s Amazon Shop, that’s why I used German brand, but I made sure that there’s a boric acid in the contact solution brand.
Benefits of contact solution slime :
- Not as harsh on skin as borax powder
- You can easily find it at any local grocery store (there must be a borax in the ingredients list, so the contact solution works when mixed with glue)
- It is a great slime activator

Here comes the fun part – to make your birthday cake slime definitely look like the most delicious birthday cake, you need to add something that represents cake decoration – for this particular slime I used colorful foam beads. They definitely remind me of sugary cake sprinkles.
For the shaving foam part, I bought it in my local grocery store, which means that you can use any kind of shaving FOAM. Don’t use shaving gel, as it can change the consistency. Any regular shaving foam will do just fine. Preferably, use unscented one so you can add your own desired scents to your slime.
Extra Additional :
Don’t forget that you can get super creative and even add scents to your slime! For this birthday cake slime recipe you can easily add vanilla essential oil or vanilla extract to make your birthday cake slime extra cake-y!
Easy DIY Birthday Cake Slime With Contact Solution
1. Add your white or clear glue to a bowl.
2. Add water and shaving cream and then mix.
3. Add foam beads and mix them in.
4. Stir in baking soda and then mix.
5. Add in contact solution and stir well to combine together. Stir until slime begins to form together, add more saline solution if needed.
6. Knead the slime until it gets less sticky and is easily removable from the container.
Instructions :
Step 1 : In a small bowl or a glass container, pour out 5 oz of clear glue. Add 1/2 cup of water stir until the glue and water are mixed together fully.
Make sure the glue has fully melted into the water.
Step 2 : Add shaving cream and then mix.
I added 50ml for this exact birthday cake slime recipe, but you can experiment and add even more. The more shaving cream you use, the ”fluffier’ the slime. Mix it within the water and glue mixture.
Step 3 : Add colorful foam beads and mix them in.
Add them within the mixture and make sure to fully mix them in. At this point the slime should start to look like a solid waffle or pancake mix, that’s how you know you’re on the right track.
Step 4 : Stir in baking soda and the mix.
The science behind adding baking soda into your slime recipe :
Baking soda helps to determine your slime’s thickness, it helps to firm and form the slime. I used 1/2 tsp for this exact Birthday Cake Slime recipe, but you can always play around with it and create your own ratios.
Step 5 : Add in contact solution and stir well to combine together. Stir until slime begins to form together, add more saline solution if needed.
NOTE : Don’t add too much or you will start to lose the stretchy properties and become more prone to breaking. If you find your slime is breaking you are adding too much contact solution. I would suggest start by adding slowly, mixing it and only then add if needed.
Step 6 : Knead the slime until it gets less sticky and is easily removable from the container.
You’ll start to see how the slime is finally getting together and changes its consistency to a super foamy, slimy, squishy and fluffy slime. It’s definitely the fun part to see how it reacts to contact solution and activates the slime.
And there you have it! Fluffy and squishy birthday cake slime that reminds me of a delicious birthday cake! It’s definitely a must try sensory activity for birthday parties or just for fun time indoors.
